PARK CITY CURLING
Established 2006
OUR BEGINNING

2006 – 2007
The Park City Curling Club got its start in 2006, right after the Park City Ice Arena opened its doors. While the city was figuring out how best to use the new ice, local Parkite Debbie Basrak had an idea: curling. She founded the club that same year, introducing a new and exciting winter sport to Park City and laying the groundwork for what would become a passionate curling community.
In the early days, the club ran on pure dedication. We didn’t own any stones, so members borrowed them from the Ogden Curling Club—an hour away—and hauled them back and forth every week just to play. There weren’t even curling rings painted on the ice yet, so before each game the houses were drawn by hand with markers. It wasn’t fancy, but it worked, and it brought people together.
Things really took off in 2007 when the Ice Arena purchased curling equipment and painted the houses directly onto the ice.
TODAY
Since then, the club has continued to grow. Today, we host a weekly curling league and introduce more than 1,000 people a year to the sport through our Learn to Curl programs for individuals, private groups, and charitable organizations. Our goal is simple: to grow the Olympic sport of curling in Utah and have a great time doing it.

General Info & Learn to Curl Public Events
What is curling?
Curling is a fun, social ice sport where teams slide granite stones toward a target (called the house) while teammates sweep to guide the stone. It’s easy to learn, surprisingly strategic, and great for all ages and skill levels.
Do I need experience to try curling?
Not at all. Most people who curl with us are brand new. We focus on making curling welcoming and beginner-friendly, and our instructors walk you through everything before you start.
How much is a Learn to Curl event?
$100 per person.
Or, if you have a group of 10 or more people who want to learn to curl, we can arrange a private event for your group at $125 per person, and that rents out the entire rink for your private event.
What should I wear?
Dress warmly and comfortably—ice arenas are cold. Layers are recommended. Clean athletic shoes are required (no boots), and gloves are encouraged. All curling equipment is provided.
Do I need to be athletic to curl?
Nope. Curling is more about balance, strategy, and teamwork than strength or speed. If you can move carefully on the ice, you can curl.
Where do you curl?
We curl at the Park City Ice Arena. The club hosts a weekly league and offers Learn to Curl sessions throughout the year.
What is a “Learn to Curl”?
Learn to Curl sessions are introductory experiences that include a brief overview of the sport, safety instruction, and plenty of time on the ice throwing stones and sweeping. We offer sessions for individuals, private groups, and charitable organizations.
Can beginners join a league?
Yes. Many of our league curlers started with no experience at all. We’re a welcoming club and happy to help new players learn as they go.
Private Corporate & Group Events
Do you offer corporate or private group events?
Yes. We host corporate outings, team-building events, private group curls, fundraisers, and celebrations. Events can take place on the ice or off the ice with our Street Curling option.
How do we book a private or corporate event?
Private and corporate events are booked by email. Ice time can be limited, so the more flexibility you have with dates and times, the better chance we have of accommodating your group.
Click here to inquire about a private booking.
Is there a minimum group size?
Yes. Private on-ice events require a 16-person minimum.
How is instruction handled during group events?
We provide a personalized experience with 1 qualified instructor for every 5 participants, ensuring hands-on instruction, safety, and plenty of time to play.
Do you provide food and beverages, or can we bring our own?
We do not directly provide food or beverages. However, we have a party area available for catering, and outside food and beverage service is welcome. We can also assist with the necessary food and beverage licensing to help make your event seamless.
What should our group wear?
Dress warmly in comfortable layers. Clean athletic shoes are required (no boots), and gloves are recommended. All curling equipment is provided.
Can our event include social time off the ice?
Absolutely. Many groups combine curling on the ice with social time in the party area before or after their session.
What is Street Curling?
Street Curling is an off-ice version of curling that uses specialized equipment to recreate the game without ice. It’s portable, easy to learn, and perfect for events that don’t take place at the ice arena.
When is Street Curling a good option?
Street Curling works well for cocktail parties, receptions, conferences, large group events, or situations where ice time or travel isn’t ideal.
